Here is the press release on the latest Tony Doom product to be added to the Smithsonian collection! (scroll down and see the earlier product that was entered into the collection in August of 2000)
Ranniger Group Button goes to the Smithsonian

There is a group of people that don't attend political events as concerned voters, they attend with an eye of a curator seeking to add to the Smithsonian's collection.  They mingle on convention floors among the delegates looking for anything eye-catching.  It might be witty, hand-crafted, glitzy or just plain ridiculous.  Once they see it, they move in for the buy.  First, they present their business card. It reads; "Curator. Smithsonian Institution. Division of Civil History."
Next, they determine if the item meets their exacting standards.  But ultimately they simply ask, "Do we like it?"

Today, the Smithsonian's collection of campaign items exceeds 140,000 pieces.  Its most recent addition is a Minnesota for Kerry Edwards button designed for a local DFL activists group and manufactured by Tony Doom Supply Company in Marshall, MN.  This will be Tony Doom's second button to make it to the prestigious Smithsonian collection.

When a Smithsonian curator spotted the button, she decided it was a "must have" addition to the collection.  If you want your own museum quality piece for your private collection of political artifacts, it's not too late!

According to Michael Ranniger of Ranniger Group there are a still limited number of buttons available from their website, www.rannigergroup.com. "I am just so pleased that Smithsonian selected our button out of multitude of buttons that were available from which they could chose." Ranniger went on to say that he wanted to thank the delegate from Massachusetts that gave his button to the Smithsonian, helping Minnesota once again become part of our national history

DFL Button a Smithsonian Museum Piece

Buyer bought the button off the lapel of a MN Delegate to the national convention in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA--They don't attend political events as concerned voters, they attend with an eye of a curator seeking to add to the Smithsonian's collection.

They mingle on convention floors among the delegate looking for anything eye-catching. It might be witty, hand-crafted, glitzy or just plain ridiculous. One they see it, they move in for the buy. First, they present their business card. It reads; "Curator. Smithsonian Institution. Division of Civil History."

Next, they determine of the item meets their exacting standards. But ultimately they simply ask, "Do we like it?"

Today, the Smithsonian's collection of campaign items exceeds 90,000 pieces. Now, it includes a Minnesota DFL button designed by a national delegate and manufactured by Tony Doom Supply Company in Marshall, Mn.

When a Smithsonian curator spotted the button, she decided it was a "must have." If you want your own museum piece for your private collection of political artifacts, it's not too late!

According to THIS proud owner of the button, it's rather retro-looking design speaks volumes for the traditional values the DFL has always stood for in this state.  Progressive government policies favoring families, farmers and business leaders.
